Use this soft interface pad when you need to do soft sanding on contours or undulating surfaces. The velours face simply attaches to the backing pad of your sander,  and your abrasive sanding discs attach to the velcro on the front side. Useful for sanding surfaces that might sand through if using too firm a backing pad, such as paints, laquers, veneers etc..
